Finding the right health insurance for you

Health insurance can be an ignored subject. Some have it, some don't and some get yelled at by the tax man if they haven't gotten around to getting it. Most people don't bother. Fit as a fiddle? Well, what if something happens, god forbid, that a payday loan just won't cover? What if it is three in the morning when something stricks? We will always be here when you need us, but it is always a fantastic idea to have a back up plan. Some extra comfort with health cover.

Now, it may seem daunting, you type in health insurance into Google and you will be inundated with websites all offering different specials and extras.

So, I've done some leg work for you and discovered the best option for most would be Mebi-Bank, but it depends on your circumstances . With each health insurance website, I put down that I was after just the basic cover, single, between 25 - 40 and living in Queensland. (Mind you I can't comprehend why what state you live in would affect your health) Here goes;

Medi-Bank
Medi- Bank is the way I would go, everyone is different however Medi- bank covers the most for someone my age, with no excess and it cheap!

Medi-Bank offers a the cheapest package at $14.07 per week with Flexi options available and no excess. This package covers you for pretty much everything a younger to middle age adult will need and for the ladies, pregnancy and birthing costs included. Also the flexi options is an added bonus! In addition to the core services covered under MyOption you can also choose how to use your extras Benefits from the following range of services: Physiotherapy, Pharmaceutical Prescriptions (non-PBS), Major Dental, Chiropractic, Osteopathy, Acupuncture, Naturopathy, Remedial massage. You decide how you spend the Benefit on these covered services. That is an awesome bonus in my eyes!

NIB
Now NIB was my second pick. At just $14.75 a week with simplicity. NIB seems to be more for younger people, but can be suitable for middle agers. However the package I looked at does not cover pregnancy or birthing costs. You have excess options of either $250 or $500 each time someone under your coverage is admitted to hospital. The more excess you pay, the more your monthly payments go down in price. This NIB package can also help you avoid the Medicare Levi Surcharge.

MBF
This product is ideal if you are a young, healthy person, who plans to start a family or plans to have more children. Their best offer sits at $51.58 per week. Sounds pricey doesn't it? The way MBF work, is they separate the hospital and extra plans. You can mix it up and choose between multiple options. Which is a great plan if you know exactly what you are looking for. However when you find what that is, you pay separately for the two instead of one simple payment. It covers for mostly all things including pregnancy for the women. You will need to choose your excess however. Options are $250, $500 and $100. And if you don't know what excess means, it is the amount you agree to pay per person each year each time a person under your coverage is admitted to hospital. Massive pain if you ask me!

Now none of these packages cover you already beautiful people for cosmetic surgery however I hope my digging around has helped. You could also go to the Iselect website, type in what you are looking for and they will trowl through all the health insurance agencies and find the best option for you. Good luck!
