The recent earthquake that devastated Haiti is one sad event that shocked most of the world. Through this tragedy, people in other parts of the globe became aware of the life conditions of some unfortunate countries. As news about the disaster filled almost every channel worldwide, people came to an important realisation. That even though they were badly affected by the economic downturn, they are still lucky to be able to eat three times a day. In Haiti, every fourth child is malnourished. However, this place is just one of those still suffering countries. There are still millions of people out there which are suffering. They are in unfortunate situations as they do not have available food supplies and no clean drinking water. People in developed countries are lucky enough to have fertile lands in which crops can grow. They have wide sea territories wherein abundant sea life provides them with food. They don't have any problems regarding fresh water, too. Sure, prices of commodities rise to some unacceptable extent. However, people have jobs and they expect paychecks. One way or another, they can afford to purchase food. People in unfortunate countries don't have these opportunities. Eating a meal in a day for some is considered luxury. A lot of them die in starvation and malnutrition in innumerable rates. If not for food aids from developed countries, these people would suffer unimaginably. But now that a lot of people realise the real picture of suffering and hunger, it's time to reassess and re-haul their lifestyle. It is a fact that food is wasted in their households. They buy supplies which do not serve their purpose at times. After the expiry date, these go down the drain or out to the trash bin. They do not realise it but the money they spend on unnecessary food supply goes to waste as well. If only they buy sufficiently, they can save a significant amount of money. This amount could go to their other needs such as bills and their children's education. But most importantly, this money could go to their savings fund. Additionally, people could also use this money to help those in need. There are a lot of saving tips people that can incorporate this into their lifestyle. For a start, they can buy their food supply smartly. The amount they saved can be given as donations to charities that help hungry people around the world. As an example, they can actually donate a little amount to people ravaged by catastrophic events such as Haiti. |
